This box is for you if…

  • You feed four or six people and it never quite feels like enough.
  • The hardest part of the week is deciding, not cooking.
  • You have at least one person in the house who eats like a rumour of a teenager.
  • You want food everyone will actually eat, not a project.

The mission of Five-Star Family

Feed a real family well without making food another full-time job.

This box is built around the reality of family life — different appetites, children, teenagers, school days, work days, packed lunches and substantial dinners. Its purpose is to reduce the shopping, planning and decision fatigue behind feeding everyone while still putting genuinely good food on the table.

More good food. Less family-food chaos.
How we built it: Family food fails on organisation more often than on ingredients. You have the food, but not the plan, so half of it goes soft in a drawer. This box is deliberately familiar: nothing anyone has to be talked into, with the storage and order-of-use already worked out.

What’s inside — and why it’s here

7-DAY / 6 people · 7-day plan for 6 people

  • 4 dozen Eggs
  • 4 lb Ground beef

  • 3 Carrots 2 lb bag
  • 3 Bell peppers
  • 2 heads Romaine lettuce
  • 2 bunches Kale
  • 2 lb Vine tomatoes
  • 1 lb Zucchini
  • 1 bunch Beets

Fruit

Easy fresh fruit for breakfasts, snacks and something sweet.

  • 7 lb Bananas
  • 6 Apples
  • 2 Seasonal melon seasonal
  • 6 Seasonal citrus seasonal

Bakery

Bread and staples that turn ingredients into real meals quickly.

  • 3 Bagels (6)

Pantry

Versatile supporting foods, so the week never becomes repetitive.

  • 3 Long grain rice 3 lb
  • 3 Dried pinto beans 2 lb

Seasonal melon and seasonal citrus are chosen fresh each week. If we swap something, it stays in the same role, in a similar useful amount, at equal or better quality.

Why these foods

Two proteins, not one
Beef and pork, so a seven-day week is not the same dinner on repeat.
Apples and bananas
The lunchbox fruit and the after-school fruit. Apples keep three weeks, which is the point.
Rice, beans and tortillas
The three things that turn any leftover into a second meal everyone eats.
Cabbage, carrots and onions
Still good on day six, when the salad leaves are long gone.

What can I make?

  • Beef tacos with slaw
  • A big pan of rice and beans
  • Zucchini and egg scramble
  • Bagel breakfasts on school mornings
  • Roast carrot and beet tray
  • Stuffed peppers
  • Apples and bananas in lunchboxes
  • Cabbage and beef skillet

Meal ideas assume basic pantry staples such as cooking oil, salt, pepper and common spices.

The practical details

Preferences & substitutions

  • If something is not available, we swap it for the same role, in a similar useful amount, at equal or better quality. Freshness is never downgraded.
  • Seasonal melon and seasonal citrus are category roles — we do not promise one fruit all year.
  • Mark an item never substitute and we leave it out rather than swap it.
